Musicology
Musicology is Prince’s twenty eighth album. Prince staged a mainstream comeback in support of the album and it was a significant commercial success. The album features a mixture of vintage and contemporary R&B along with a few rock influenced songs.
To promote the album, Prince gave interviews to Guitar Player, Keyboard, Bass Player and Modern Drummer, so it is one of his better documented albums. John Blackwell plays drums on four songs, with “Dear Mr Man” also featuring Rhonda Smith and Renato Neto from the One Nite Alone… touring band.
To promote the album, Prince performed at the Grammy Awards, MTV Unplugged and the Rock ‘N’ Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony. He also toured North America from March to September 2004, with the shows including an acoustic set for the first time.
