Boss BF-2 Flanger

The Boss BF-2 Flanger is an effects pedal used by Prince from the 1999 era onward. It appeared on almost every version of his pedalboard and can be heard on many of his studio recordings. It can be heard on the guitar parts of “Paisley Park” and “She's Always In My Hair”, the bass part of “17 Days” and Linn LM-1 snare drum on “If I Was Your Girlfriend”. Prince briefly tried the more modern Boss BF-3 in 2007, before reverting back to the BF-2.
Prince played a number of BF-2’s over the years, including black and white control versions. One of Prince’s white control BF-2 Flangers was auctioned for $1,920 in 2016.
One of Prince’s BF-2s is currently on display at Paisley Park.
