The Roland GR-700 is a synthesizer module used by Prince. When combined with the Roland G-707 it forms a guitar synthesizer system. The synthesizer engine was based on the Roland JX-3P keyboard.
The guitar synthesizer system was first used during the Parade sessions. It is the synth lead (“duck” sound) heard on “Girls & Boys”, “Sexual Suicide” and “Anotherloverholenyohead”. There are also reports of Prince using this guitar during the Sign O The Times sessions.
Wendy also used the Roland GR-700 on the Parade tour.
