The Hohner TE Prinz is an electric guitar from Prince’s collection at Paisley Park. After Prince’s rise to fame using his Hohner HG-490, Hohner produced several further Mad Cat–style guitars. The first, known as “The Prinz” included a typical Telecaster-style headstock, which lead to a lawsuit from Fender. A later version, named “TE Prinz” had an alternative headstock shape. Prince had one of these guitars in his collection, although it is unclear whether it was used for any recording sessions or dates. Despite this, the guitar has toured as part of the “My Name Is Prince” exhibition and is currently on loan to the Met.
The guitar is currently in the collection at Paisley Park and appears in the Prince - Guitar & Bass book.
