Boss SD-1 Super Overdrive

The Boss SD-1 Super Overdrive was an effects pedal used by Prince from the 1999 era to the Diamonds and Pearls era. The pedal is a relatively low-gain overdrive, and was mostly combined with distorted Mesa/Boogie Mark II and III amplifiers for high-gain sounds. As Prince moved away from Mesa/Boogie amplifiers in the 1990s, he stopped using the SD-1.
It was used for processing the Linn LM-1 drum machine and it can be heard on “Hot Thing”. It was kept at Paisley Park as a drum effect after Prince had stopped using it on his guitar pedalboard.
It was also used live by Dez Dickerson.
